74.) Write a letter to Disney Princesses +Thank YOU!

June 16, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Well, last week Molly, Maddy, and I sent letters to Disney Princesses.

There’s not much to say about this other than if you write a letter to

Walt Disney World Communications

P.O. Box 10040

Lake Buena Vista, FL

32830-0040

They will send an autographed photo back. Molly sent letters to Cinderella and Mulan. Maddy sent them to Merida and Tiana. And  I wrote letters to Merida and Rapunzel. We will keep you all updated on the outcome of this post.

49. Play uno

June 16, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hey everyone, so on Thursday, Molly, myself, and a few friends were able to play an intense (not really) game of uno and many other fun card games.

So, uno is quite a fun game, especially if you’re Molly and I playing with some friends and senior citizens at a club we go to every Wednesday.

Well, what we pictured to be very intense, ended up being all of us on our phones, Molly getting mad at us for being on our phones, forgetting whose turn it was, me volunteering to go, which kept cycling until we just gave up. So, after giving up on uno, we played go fish, and this really weird but intense game that Alex showed us, it’s hard to explain or I would, and then us eating food.

So, what Molly and I learned, is that senior citizens are more fun to play bingo with than our friends… Sorry guys but it’s true.

59. Have a paint war, wearing white shirts so we can keep the shirts.

June 15, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Bonjour all!

Today is a splendid  day mostly because the shirts Alicia and I spray painted finally dried and were washed and now drying again! Woot! Though we didn’t have a paint war, we did take paint and spray it onto shirts. A long while ago back in seventh grade, Alicia, a friend of ours Kylie, and I made these shirts using fabric spray paint. Now this summer, we decided to do it again. It was superbly easy (is superbly even a word?) and almost as awesome as the tie-dye. Personally, my tie-dye came out better than the spray paint because the spray paint mixed together and formed a gorgeous shade of grayish brown. Not the best color in the world, but hey, art is art, right?

Supplies needed: Two plain white shirts (previously washed with no detergent) and the paint

Now, the future of these shirts have been decided: they are going to be the shirts they have LIFE written on them for the adventure of number 80. Hand out lemons wearing a shirt that says “life”. That’s one adventure as with number 79.  Jumping out of random closets in Ikea, yelling: “Oh my god, Narnia is so awesome!”, I am quite apprehensive to do. Excited, maybe. Nervous, totally.

Anyway, there isn’t much else to say except three things:

One: Thank you for 29,281 views.

Two: Much love and summer fun!

68. Tie Dye

June 12, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hello!

Yesterday, Alicia, Maddy, and I did two projects, but one of them are still drying so I’ll talk about one that is done.  We tie dyed again this year and our projects came out fantastic (as usual). We are so artistic, it’s not even funny. Anyway, so to tie-dye, it’s really not that hard so here are some amazing photographs taken by our dear photographer, Maddy!

63. Make button art

June 10, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hello!

Today, Alicia, Maddy, and I did number 63. Make button art. Make button art was on our list last year (and then our list got revamped..again..and again..and again..) and it was sadly taken off.  However, we finally made stuff! Woot.  Plus, it was quite rainy today and a great day to do a project.

Supplies needed.

We got to work with our projects. And as you can tell, we were very serious artists.

Our projects came out quite well and I can’t wait to hang mine on the wall with my crayon art.

91. Get our permits. (Alicia)

June 9, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Well, unlike Molly, my DMV experience was rather nice, not speedy, but the people at the DMV my mom and I went to were rather nice. We first went to the one that Molly got her permit, but at 7:30 yesterday, there were a good 50 people waiting outside, so we decided to not wait. However, when we got to the other DMV, the parking lot was completely full, and finally after waiting a good 20 minutes to park, there were about 40 people ahead of us outside, so we waited. For 8:30 in the morning, everyone was very chipper an unlike our driver’s ed instructor told us, didn’t seem to hate their job.

After we got in and checked in, got a number, there was another 30 minute wait, thankfully, due to my phone, it was bearable. My phone did solve the waiting problem, but the terrible B.O. stench wasn’t. And finally after that waiting, I was able to take the permit test, without missing a single question, Woohoo for me, and I signed a sheet of paper, and I was legally able to drive with a parent from 6am-10pm. That’s a big deal if you ask me.

So, after that, my mom and I went to practice in a cemetery. I never went above 15 mph and my mom, no matter how chill she seemed on the outside, was screaming inside. She said I did really well for my first time and she only had to tell me to lay off the brake twice. I was even able to accomplish my first 3-point turn, it took about 5 minutes but I did it. Yay.

Stay off the roads!

94. Run a 5k… Well complete one at least

June 9, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hello, so, on Friday, Molly and I were able to take part in our first (and probably last) 5k. For those of you who don’t know how long that is, it’s about 3.17 miles.

From from the start Molly and I were set on running, and we even trained, for a day… So then a week ago, we decided to admit defeat and just walk it. However, my dad who ran/walked/jogged it with us, said that we had to run the first block and then take it from there. We ended up running the first 5 blocks and then walked some and then ran four, walked some more, etc.

I don’t know about Molly, but I for one have never actually been to the 5k to cheer others on, or even knew it existed until about three months ago. It was a really great experience to see all of our community members coming together to give us water at different points on our journey (I felt like one of the marathon runners because I was able to throw the cup on the ground after I finished it…), have different bands and just random people play music while we ran, the traffic people (shout out to my mom for doing that) for making sure none of the runners were hit by a car, and the hundreds of people who were at different points of the 5k, cheering us on and telling everyone that we could do it and that we were almost there. Especially the final stretch when the finish line (there was a balloon arch) was in view and everyone was clapping and yelling, it was absolutely phenomenal.

So, all in all, cross that off the list, it was a really great experience and for those of you who haven’t done at least one, you should try. :)

91. Get our permits and 93. Get a job (Molly!)

June 5, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hello there! It was a very adventurous day in Mollyland today.  Though Alicia and I just started Drivers Ed on Monday, we are able to take the permit test any day after that Monday.  After trying to psych myself up for the past year, I finally decided that I had to do it. At first, I was afraid to get on the whole driving bandwagon, but now that I have the permit and I drove (I’ll get into that later..), I don’t really get why I was freaking out before.

My experience with the DMV (or Driver’s Services) wasn’t a pleasant one. Except, I don’t know if any one has a pleasant experience with the DMV. The people weren’t very happy people and it made me sad. I didn’t want to say or do anything because I didn’t want to get yelled at. My fabulous mom and I got to the DMV around 1:00ish (See, ish is back from last summer!! Woot!) and we were able to get out of there by 2:15. I by no means was there for three hours. Oh god; that would be so bad. There is only so long I can sit in a hard plastic chair and wait. I have the attention span of a three year old. And it wasn’t helping that I was shaking uncontrollably. I have anxiety issues, obviously.

By the time I was called (lucky F660), I was able to give the lady all of my paperwork. She didn’t seem so thrilled to help me, but hey, whatever. Then you have to take a vision test in addition to a writing one. I didn’t realize that the vision test also checks your peripheral vision. So when the lady asked if I saw the blinking lights, I had no idea where they were going to be. I’ve had glasses since I was three and I have been to the eye doctor more times than I can count and I am used to having the stuff be in front of me, not next to me! What a concept! I passed even though I was slightly embarrassed. Oops.

Finally, I was able to get in line for the written exam and it was honestly the easiest thing I’ve taken. I got only one wrong, but hey! Some people have had to take the test at least three times. There was a guy in front of me and it was his third time taking it and he got four wrong..so my one was ok in my book! And I don’t understand people. There was another guy and he went to the bathroom and took his test with him! I mean, have you ever taken a test before? If you have to go potty in the middle of the test, you can’t. End of story. My test was graded so I walked away. People these days. Person, you are going to be on the roads? Maybe I don’t want to drive….

After waiting so all the fancy people with driver’s licenses could get their pictures taken, I finally got my permit. One of the greatest expressions on people’s faces is when they get their driver’s license and they are smiling at it and really excited. It’s kinda weird too but if I got excited for a sheet a paper, I think I will get excited for a piece of plastic too.

Afterwards, my mom and I went to another place so I could get fingerprinted for my new job as a food server in a retirement community (number 93. Get a job). I was just chopped full of doing adult things today, jeesh.

Then, my wonderful mother decided that it was going to be time for me do go behind the wheel. We went to a large empty parking lot at a Baptist church near our house and she put the car in park and then got out. I too got out of the car and got in the driver’s seat. Hesitantly, I put on the seat belt and she showed me the different gears and the turn signals and stuff. Then, it was time to go into drive.

I idled for a while and in my mom’s blue Forester. Driving a car is nothing like my prior driving practice of Mario Kart Wii. Cars go fast. I handled it and I even turned both ways. AND! I used my turn signal. Success. My mom said that there was only one time where she was worried and wish she had a brake, but, that’s one time on day one;  I’m ok with that. I felt bad and kept feeling like I had to say sorry because the whole braking thing is an utterly new thing to me. I didn’t understand the whole gentle thing with the brakes; it’s a hard concept. I felt as though my poor passenger was going to knock her head on the dashboard–oops!

After driving in circles and making sure to keep my hands on the wheel while I turned (I guess your hands have to stay on the wheel..what?!?..I’m just kidding.), I was done. My poor shoulders haven’t relaxed since the drive and I don’t think I was breathing at all. But hey, you do what you gotta do.

Anyway, looking ahead for the week’s end, on Friday, it’s definite that Alicia and I are going to “run” a 5K. Whoever was stupid enough to decide to run it (me..cough, cough) is a total idiot. The last time I did a mile was last August for gym class. And then we had a semester off for Health class and my physical activity consists of taking long romantic walks to the refrigerator during breaks of Arrested Development. Netflix is a dangerous substance people. I mean, I did take a long walk yesterday and I got a mocha. It was eh–the mocha, not the walk. The walk was long. However, I have been doing the stretches my dear favorite cheerleader and tumbler extraordinaire Samantha showed Alicia and I for learning how to do the splits. I’m really close –which is not close at all in normal people’s standards..

And thanks for 27, 142 views. There are no words that Alicia and I can express to show how we really feel. You guys (and gals of course!) are what makes us continue to go. Doing the blog with my bestest friend in the land, my co-editor-in-chief of the yearbook of awesome, co-president of a club we are involved in, and my bestest friend is the junior class president (what up!), is one of the highlights of my whole life. Knowing that there are wonderful people here who care about us really makes me feel good and that this blog does have a purpose:  our purpose is to inspire and create lifelong memories and that’s more than anyone can ask for. Before I get too nauseated, I have to say adios. Continue reading; it means a lot.

Well, I have nothing else to say except I really need to go to sleep because it has been a long day.

Oh! And of course!

Much love and summer fun!

70. Melted crayon art

June 3, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hey everyone, today Molly and I made melted crayon art, But, first I should say that today we also started driver’s education. We can get our permits, so stay off the roads. :) Anyways, after 28 more hours of classwork we will be able to cross off finish drivers ed from the list, Yay, and hopefully this week we will cross off get our permits… Just little things to look forward to.

Anyhow, last year Molly and I made crayon art, and we enjoyed it so much that we decided to do it again.

So, making melted crayon art is quite simple, possibly the only art I am capable of doing.

Anyways, all you need is

  • Crayons, (crayola work best and get the 96 pack with the built-in sharper, because that’s the best part)
  • A canvas
  • tacky glue
  • a hair dryer
  • newspaper or something to cover the ground with

So, Moll and I decided to be outrageous and not make a rainbow like we did last year but for her to stick with warmer colors and for me to stick with cooler colors

1. Place the crayons in the order you want them on the board until you run out of space

supplies

supplies

always have to take a picture of the unopened crayon box

always have to take a picture of the unopened crayon box

and then the opened one

and then the opened one

getting them in order

getting them in order

2. One by one glue the crayons onto the canvas

gluing like a boss

gluing like a boss

placing the crayon

placing the crayon

3. after all the crayons are glued, let it dry for a bout 5 minutes, then set up the newspaper or in our case, paper bags, so the crayons don’t splash, plug in the hairdryer and let the magic happen.,

very excited she gets to use a hairdryer

very excited she gets to use a hairdryer

it's really boring at first

Ah, they're melting

Ah, they’re melting

still melting

Just about done

47. Play a board game!

May 31, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hello all, so today was quite a busy day for Molly and I. Last night I was asked if I could babysit some kids for my neighbors and I happily obliged. However, there were 9 little rascals and I knew I needed Molly’s help. So, after two and a half hours of hide-and-seek, a failed attempt at duck-duck-goose, many trips to the kitchen, and finishing off the time with Scooby doo and drinking imaginary tea, Molly and I were beat. However, we did manage to walk the half mile or so from my house to Molly’s to  be able to complete 47.  Play a board game. What fun, what fun.

We were able to accomplish this item, with none other than our friend Alex, who you may remember from our zoo trip last summer, anywho, yes it was a blast. So, we played dachshund- opoly. It’s like monopoly but instead of boardwalk and park place, there are  different types and names of dachshunds. Now, I may say that I was the only one who had ever played monopoly, or some version of it, however Molly and Alex caught on rather rapidly. It’s not that hard, and I even had the honor of opening the dachshund-opoly box, very big deal, I know.

The very fun box

The very fun box

Beginning the game

Beginning the game

So, throughout this very intense game of dachshund-opoly or more like ‘Alicia buying all the property and everyone else landing on that property, having to pay rent and making Alicia happy” got bored. And then one of us would go on our phone, so the other two would as well, and then we’d forget whose turn it was, or I would just roll for them.

-5

-11

So, after a bit of selfie taking, and contemplating how this game ever ends, and me sharing my story of how I finished one game ever because my cousin was dumb, sold me boardwalk, and I put hotels on that and park place, and he landed on  both of them in the same turn, and he cashed out and I won. Alex decided to attempt to quit, After about a half an hour of him trying to quit, Molly got mad and flipped the board. Thus, ending the game. We decided that I won because I had the most property, toys and bones (instead of houses and hotels) and still had about $5000 more dollars to spare.

-1

-4

After Molly flipped the board, with all of the little pieces we were still finding them as we were getting ready to leave. Nice Molly, someone’s a sore loser. :)

Anyways, it was a very nice day of board game playing and babysitting.

31. Go to the Crosstown Game

May 29, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hello dear readers!

Today was a great day and a fantastic way to start out summer 2013! Finally, the sun came out and it was time for a great American pastime and a rivalry of the ages: the Chicago Cubs versus the Chicago White Sox.

Alicia, Alicia’s wonderful dad Alan, Charlie, and I traveled to Wrigley Field for this wonderful game. I’ve only been to two games (both Sox games) so getting a taste of the historic Wrigley Field was a unique experience. For two teams that are from the same city, they are two completely different teams. Between the differences in the fans, the ballpark, and the overall team, there shouldn’t be a real comparison.

The very enthusiastic group: Alicia, Charlie, and me!!

The very enthusiastic group: Alicia, Charlie, and me!!

It was an intriguing game. For the parts I saw when I wasn’t on my trusty iPhone (oops), it was great. The Cubs scored many home runs and that racked up the score considerably. As you can tell, I am not one to banter on the game because I had only somewhat of a clue what was going on. Heck, I had to ask Alicia and Charlie where the scoreboard was. I don’t understand baseball to save my life. Well, maybe I could..nah. I have no idea.

The scoreboard (once I found it..haha)

The scoreboard (once I found it..haha)

Anyway, the final score was 9-3 Cubs. In honesty, I was very surprised. What am I saying? I wasn’t surprised; I had no idea what the score was going to be.

Though I didn’t take notes, I did learn many things today:

1. I learned that there is a major difference between Cubs and Sox fans

2. The Blackhawks will reunite the city of Chicago (Go Blackhawks! And yes, another sport I don’t get.)

3. Alicia’s dad and Charlie are very informed in the genre of both movies and baseball history. (Alicia and I would chirp in occasionally)

4. Even while sitting in the shade, you can get a sunburn.

5. That whoever has to wash the uniforms at the end of the game really needs to win an award. I’ve never seen whiter uniforms.

Well, I know I had a fantastic day and I learned a lot. I really hope that Charlie enjoyed his first blog activity and I hope Alicia enjoyed being in my presence. We all know she loves me. :)

12.) Make pretzels

May 28, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hi everyone, today Molly and I were able to knock off another item on our list, and that is 12.) Make pretzels.

This morning, Molly and I had a meeting with the new yearbook advisor to set up the classroom how we wanted it, work on the page ladder, and anything else we found necessary, we haven’t done anything together for the list since summer started, so we decided to give pretzel making a try.

First, we had to combine sugar, water, salt, and yeast in a bowl for a few minutes

it was like watching paint dry so we took a picture

then we added flour and butter

And somehow, ish… :) we made about 2 foot long ropes and formed those into pretzels

Don't make fun of them. The two mickey mouse ones are awesome... right?

After that, we put them one by one into boiling water and baking soda, and then top them with a water and egg mix, and bake them

We don’t plan on opening a pretzel place anytime soon, but they were delicious, and that’s all that matters

Well, that is all. If you want to try the recipe it’s here, and let us know how it goes,

Much Love and Summer Fun!

98.) Pick an official summer song

May 28, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Hey everyone, Just to get another list item completed, we have decided that our official summer song is ‘I Love it” by Icona Pop.

And, just a random question, Molly and I are doing lip sync(s) and we wanted to know what songs we should do. We want to do many and were wondering what you all would enjoy. Comment here, or email us at 81dayswontlastforever@gmail.com

Much Love and Summer Fun,

99. Write a letter to myself and 100. Write a letter to Alicia (MOLLY!)

May 27, 2013 by 81dayswontlastforever

Well! It’s great to be back blogging and back to 81dayswontlastforever! After a stressful sophomore year, it’s great to have 25,000 viewers who are interested in our blog and to have a summer off. Except, this summer is chopped full of stuff, so just hold on to your pants; it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

On Thursday, a day before this glorious piece of written media was about to begin, we had some technical difficulties. It was honestly one of the worst days of my life. We were locked out of the blog. I think it’s because WordPress was updating itself and things were happening, we couldn’t get into the blog. I thought my summer was over before it began. I was yelling and crying at the freaking computer. It was a mess. But thanks to my wonderful counterpart and one of the greatest people to walk this planet, Alicia was able to fix it up with a WordPress person named Karmin. (THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH!)

Anyway, onto happier things, I completed number 99 and number 100. As usual, y’all can’t know what the letters say because Alicia will see. All I can tell you is I typed them and they are really long..but awesome. And that’s all that matters. Check out Alicia’s equally as wonderful post here: http://81dayswontlastforever.wordpress.com/2013/05/27/99-write-a-letter-to-myself-and-100-write-letters-to-each-other-alicia/

To look ahead this week, this Wednesday, Alicia, Charlie (one of our fantastic newest members of the 81days family of awesome), Alicia’s dad, and I will be going to a baseball game to prelude to us learning how to play baseball. Well, I believe the correct name for that list item is watch Molly fail at an American pastime while everyone laughs at her. I’m not coordinated whatsoever; I played soccer! I played score doesn’t matter soccer from kindergarten to seventh grade. Why did I quit? Alicia will tell you exactly how I told her long ago that the league became co-ed and I didn’t want to play with the boys (because they have cooties, duh!) Wow, awesome tangent, right? Geesh. Anyway, I don’t know what else we are going to do but you’ll know soon enough!

Good day dear readers.
Thanks for 25,000 views and your support.
Get ready for an epic summer of awesome!

Remember to look at our photo a day pages, like us on Facebook, follow our Instagram and Twitter, etc.!

Much love and summer fun.

(Man, I missed those phrases!)
