54. Have a party, 58.) Have a Disney movie viewing party where are people need to “be our guests”, but it won’t be “under the sea” 88. Spa day

Well, with a somber heart, I begin this post. Today is Tuesday, August 13, the last day of summer. Also, with total sadness, I have to report that we didn’t finish all 101 things during this summer vacation. I guess life just gets in the way of things that really do matter. I apoligize on behalf of myself and Alicia for letting all 36,759 of you (or whatever) down. It’s sad to me to think that we had such high aspirations and we failed. 144 things were  a lot, but 101? Next summer, there will only be 50 things because it’s better to have quality over quantity, right? We don’t want to have a repeat of last year and for go bowling, we played wii bowling..that is not the point. The point it to enjoy everything we do and make people smile.

Now, yesterday, Monday, Alicia and a few of our friends came over to my house to get blog stuff done. However, what ended up happening is I made dinner (and it was delicious) and we sat around and enjoyed each others’ company. When we did decide to do stuff, it was 12:00 in the morning and well, it didn’t happen. So, I guess our little pow-wow could be considered a party because there were people, food, and enjoyment. I think that counts.

After our friends left the next morning, Alicia and I completed two blog items: the first was spa day, number 88. Spa day for us was using my Love Lettuce face mask from Lush Cosmetics and painting our nails.

The wonderous stuff that makes our faces amazingly soft and clean.

Alicia and I just finished putting on our face masks. Looking hot as ever, right?

All clean!

All clean!

After, we painted our nails and didn’t take any photos. I picked a watermelon-y color and Alicia picked a sparkle-y red. When we finished our nails, we were going to have a Disney movie marathon, but, instead we watched Hercules on Netflix. It shocks me to think that as a young child I watched that movie. I know I hated it when I was little, but dang, it’s scary. All the freaking Disney movies are so scary. Like Sleeping Beauty. She gets cursed by a witch, goes somewhere she shouldn’t go and pricks her finger and almost dies. What the heck?!? Cinderella. She is a slave. Mistreated by her evil stepmother and then has to, with the help of her only mice friends, become a princess. Ok, maybe Cinderella isn’t that scary..but..Hercules was. The whole fighting scenes and Hades and Pain and Panic. How are young children able to sleep at night? Don’t get me wrong, I love Disney movies but dang.

Well, that’s all I have to say. Look for more posts later about the end of summer.

Much love and summer fun!

A Very Crafty Day

Hey guys, so A few weeks ago, I know I’m slacking, Molly and I had I believe to be our final ‘crafty’ day. A very sad end, but however, it must have happened eventually. My Aunt especially must be devastated. 🙂

Anywho, so Molly and i were able to do three things 78. decorate Glass Cups with Polka Dots, 76. Make Washer Necklaces (or bracelets and whatever Molly’s was) and 13. Make String Art. If you saw our Vlog everyday for a week post, you may have seen the string art video, but I’ll post it again, just in case.

So, This day was a definite Pinterest Fail. All three of these things were from Pinterest, and the only thing that came close to being okay was my washer bracelet. But, that’s fine.

First, Molly and I decorated the glass cups with polka dots, what Pinterest failed to tell us is that after you paint, you must also cover it with Modge Podge, resulting in a trip to Hobby Lobby. However, the Modge Podge didn’t work either, Molly learned from experience, s now to add to our decorative plates, we now have decorative cups. darn.

After we finished that, Molly and i attempted to make washer necklaces. I’m more of a visual learner, so the images from Pinterest helped me, however Molly just started looping things and I’m not actually sure what happened with hers. But, we made them, somewhat.

And, finally after that, we made String Art

And there we have it. a sad end to crafts, very Pinterest faily, etc. etc.

9. Make our LIFE BUCKET LIST (Alicia)

Hey guys, well, my life bucket list is still a work in progress, and even though at yearbook camp last week we were told “You shouldn’t have a bucket list, you shouldn’t even be thinking about kicking the bucket yet!” there is still a list (a very long one I might add) of things I have always wanted to do. So, I’ll share a few of the fun/ interesting ones

  • Visit all 50 States
  • Set foot on all Continents (minus Antartica, however if that ever happened, I’d be ever so happy)
  • Go zorbing
  • Take the cliche kicking of the Leaning Tower of Pisa photo
  • Ride a Gondola
  • Live in L.A. and NYC at some point
  • Take a gap year in between high school and college
  • Watch the Ball Drop in Times Square
  • Go to Hollywood
  • Road Trip across the country
  • SkyDive
  • Cliff Jump
  • Get a tattoo
  • See a Broadway Play
  • Study Abroad
  • Watch every single SpongeBob episode from start to finish
  • Build a legitamate sand castle, using buckets, seashells, and a cute flag on top

Well, there’s a few, there are so many more

A Sleepover of sorts

Well, Friday night, the day before the Dunes, Molly and I had a very fun sleepover, which consisted of us getting a few things done, one of which already has a post, but we were also able to complete 71.) Blindfold makeup challenge and 89.) Dip dye our hair (ish).

What we learned from these two things 1. When dip-dying/hair chalking our hair, darker colors work best, You could barely tell that my hair was purple, however you could tell the navy blue color was present in Molly’s hair, and neck :). And, that if you are going to do the blindfold makeup challenge, you really don’t want a girl who doesn’t wear makeup in general (me) and doing it at one in the morning makes it so much more fun, especially when we are half-asleep.

First, we hair-chalked our hair, Like I mentioned earlier, Molly used a navy-ish blue and mine was a pastelly- purple. What you do, if put the hair chalk applicator thing on your hair and on the other side of your hair put your thumb and then slide the applicator down your hair, and repeat.

Molly went first, and being a makeup extraordinaire she had a pretty simple time other than getting lipstick on my teeth, and the fact that she picked a blush color that was much too dark for my skin tone, giving me an orange ring outlining my face, but totally quick fixes. I, on the other hand, had a much more difficult time, especially when I ended up applying mascara to her mouth because apparently her lips felt like an eye, it was late, and apparently I had lost my mind. My favorite though, was when Molly said “Why are you applying my lipstick vertically? It goes horizontally!” I had no idea I was doing it vertically in the first place, like I said, it was late, But I know it’s been killing you all to see what we looked like in the end, So, here we go.

18. Go to the pool

Hello all!

Get ready for a lot of posts because for the past two days, Alicia and I have been busy, busy, busy!

On Friday to kick off our extravaganza of getting blog stuff done, Samantha, Alicia, and I went to our local pool. Samantha’s wonderful family has a membership to this fancy pool and so she invited Alicia and I to go with; we accepted. We spent a good two to three hours swimming and jumping off the diving board and tanning..erm..burning. See, Alicia and I have this unrealistic desire to tan and it just doesn’t work. We end up more red and pink than golden brown. Sigh.

Also, with tradition, I ate a hot dog. Last summer when I went to Wisconsin with Alicia and her family, I ate a hot dog and then on Friday, I ate a hot dog again. The whole reason why I mention this is that I don’t eat anything that moos or oinks. If it’s a bird or a fish, I’ll eat it. And I have to say, no matter what videos like Food Inc or Peta’s videos say about hot dogs, hot dogs are good. Must just be an American thing..I don’t know.

Me enjoying my hot dog.

Me enjoying my hot dog.

Anyway, that’s it; Alicia and I went swimming!

Enjoy this picture of Alicia I took. I got all photographer up in that joint.

92. Complete driver’s ed

Hello all.

Yesterday, Alicia and I completed driver’s ed. It was a long 15 days. To get a graduated driver’s license, which Alicia and I are going to get, you have to do 30 hours of driver’s ed and get more than a 70% on the driving exam. We passed with Alicia getting 98% and I got a 96%. Now, we have to have our permits for nine months and we have to drive for ninety hours. Next summer, we will have our licenses which will be great.

Anyway, there isn’t much else to say except..

29. Go to Lincoln Park and 36. Take the Train Somewhere

Hey everyone, since Molly already made the post about what we did today, I figured I should stop procrastinating (like what I’m doing with my AP U.S. history packet, AP Literature reading, and Honors Pre-Calc packet) and just write this post.

Anyway, on Sunday, my mom, Molly, my friend Orlando, and I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo. But, instead of driving, we took the L (a train downtown) to the zoo. I had never ridden the L before, and it was just like any other normal train ride, except there was this old man, who was blind, and he was able to make it down a flight of stairs without his (guide stick is it?) touching the ground.  I can’t make it down the stairs gracefully, and I can see… just thought you all should know. 🙂

Waiting for our train

Waiting for our train

So, that crosses of 36. Take the train somewhere. So, when we got to Lincoln Park, my mom kept walking and the three of us followed, and then we realized that we had gone maybe three blocks out of our way, and then after making up that ground, we were at the zoo.

So, it was about 90 degrees outside, so us Chicagoans, Molly, my mom, and I were extremely hot, but Orlando, who lives in New Orleans, had jeans on and wasn’t complaining about the weather at all. We were really jealous.

It was, however, still a nice day,and while Molly and I envied all of the animals who were not outside, who were probably sitting in front of a fan, drinking an iced tea, we still had a great time, and got to see some very fun animals.

After visiting the main part of the zoo, we decided to head to the children’s zoo, which, at the age of 16, is still my favorite. In the children’s section, you can look at ponies, cows, goats, chickens, chicks, termites, bees, and farm machinery. My favorite part, however, was the petting of the goats, that is until one of the goats made the not-so-smart decision of trying to eat my shirt. After he did that to Orlando and me, we decided the smartest idea was to get out so he didn’t eat Molly.

3. Make homemade chocolate turtles and 60. Sharpie plates and bake them

Hello!

Today Alicia and I did two things on our list. We first made homemade chocolate turtle…brownies. We were originally going to to make the candy that has a pecan and then chocolate and caramel covering it. We decided (well, I decided) the brownies would be less labor intensive and more delicious. Plus, we needed a way to bribe our friends into helping Alicia and me put together a manual for our yearbook class. We wrote almost everything for that book and we honestly don’t want to put it together. What can I say? The co-editors-in-chief are lazy.

Anyway, I found the brownie recipe on Pinterest. Pinterest in the world of having a summer blog is the greatest creation. We got all of our craft ideas from Pinterest. I’m addicted; it’s bad.

Here is the recipe we followed: http://www.cooksrecipes.com/bar/chocolate_turtle_brownies_recipe.html

They were really easy to make and we enjoyed the corner piece we ate. Gosh, it was so freaking good.

And, well ah! They are done!

IMG_1912

While the delicious brownies were cooking away, we also completed 60. Sharpie plates and bake them. This is indeed a Pinterest craft. The designs people do are absolutely gorgeous. Ours came out great too. Except, there was one small blunder on the part of the former writing editor of a high school yearbook: I spelled knowledge wrong and then I baked the plate. However, because the plate was still warm, I was able to fix it.

77.) Make a glitter snow globe

Well, hey guys. As Molly has said in our earlier posts today we got a lot done yesterday. One of those items was 77. Make a Glitter snow globe. Well, if any of you have a pinterest or have attempted to do something from pinterest, sometimes things don’t always turn out as planned, this happened with the glitter snow globes… or at least we thought.

What the pinterest picture said to do was mix glitter glue and warm water in a jar of some sort, mix with a knife, and voila “Glitter snow Globe” So, Molly had a big prego jar and I had a small jar that has previously been the house of garlic (Molly’s kitchen smelled very garlicy)…

Molly was taking forever washing the jars

Anyway, what I was not told was only to put about a tablespoon of glitter glue into the jar, and since mine was like 8 times smaller than Molly’s, a teaspoon would have sufficed. Oops. Mine looks like glitter in a jar.

weird

uhh it was hard and glue-like

And, Molly on the other hand, when she put the glitter glue in the jar and started mixing, some weird chemical reaction started to happen and the whole thing was foam and stayed like that, so darn again.

we even added more glitter... still foaming

we even added more glitter… still foaming

Jeez pinterest, give us girls a warning. anyways, the day after, they both look fine and dandy, which is good. But at the time, we were very aggravated with Pinterest but we’re good now. 🙂

Anyway, just a piece of advice, less is more, especially when you have a small jar, using a knife to mix is VERY VERY DUMB… use your fingers to mix the glitter… Like I showed earlier, the glitter is solid and your hands do the best job of making it… un-solid? It;s not liquid but not solid… I don’t know.

Anyway, if it does begin to foam, give it a day and it will be alright. 🙂
